Burlington Root Canal & Mississauga Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy, also referred to as endodontic treatment is the procedure of cleaning out the inside nerve of a tooth. The nerve of the tooth is then replaced with a seal which prevents infection from affecting the root.
When bacteria causes an infection in the pulp of your tooth, removal of the pulp is required. During a root canal procedure, bacteria and organic fragments or residue which may have remained from the nerve tissue is removed. Upon completing this process, the area is filled and sealed from the inside of the tooth to prevent bacteria from entering.
When a root canal has been completed, the tooth will have lost the nerve tissue which may result in breakage and fissures to the tooth. It is recommended to strengthen the tooth by adding a crown.
